Invisible Networks

Wyvern Art Fund is pleased to present Invisible Networks, an exhibition and event program taking place at MOOS Space (Moosdorfstraße 7-9, 12435 Berlin) from June 23 to June 30, 2024.

In the digital era, we are not only sentient beings who experience life, we are also measurable units in vast, invisible networks. We have learned to see ourselves in a way that is convenient for the digital platforms to gather information. This merging of the technological and human gaze raises pivotal questions: How much are we interacting with technologies as if they are an extension of our body? How much are we sacrificing for predictability, efficiency, and productivity? How do we maintain a balance between the subjective joy of life and the efficient exchange of energy?

The ways we see ourselves through technology also influence the ways we are able to imagine futures and relations. While exploring both the potentials and limits of technologically intermediated sensing, seeing, and knowing, Invisible Networks asks: What would it take to inspire hope and action instead of dystopian self-destruction? How can we appreciate connections with other humans, animals, and plants that are less mediated by digital interfaces? Where is our agency to decide how to interact with this evolving landscape?

Tuesday, June 25 @ 14:00-18:00 – Skinship: Sensumates Larp Play Session with Susan Ploetz (online registration required)
This live action role play (larp) session will explore the relationship between somatic intelligence and technological objects.

Tuesday, June 25 @ 19:00 – Are We in Touch Now? performance with Maya Weinberg
A performance and choreographic practice, located in the sensory and perceptual in-between spaces of things.

Tuesday, June 25 @ 20:00 – Abstraction of Technique spoken word performance with Rocket Loam
Two poems about life under surveillance and collective recordkeeping for the future.

Wednesday, June 26 @ 19:00 – Sinking In performance with Asa Maynard
This double bass performance piece combines recorded audio and live instrumentals designed to bring the audience into a state of reflection on their relationship with digital interfaces.

Thursday, June 27 @ 18:00-21:00 – Mind Kut-Up Lab Workshop 2 with Viky (mvm.alves) (online registration required)
This workshop will use the potential of The Hologram, a peer-to-peer health monitoring protocol, to identify patterns, grow and build solidarity, curiosity, and trust – so we can take action, collectively.
